Our team aims at the development and improvement of energy plants. We focus on collecting and screening the germplasm resources of Jatropha curcas, at the same time, we are paying great attention to the functional key genes research. Through the research on high photosynthetic efficiency, starch synthesis, lipid metabolism and stress resistance, to clarify the mechanisms of high efficiently transforming and storing energy in energy plants, which has provided the theoretical basis for the breed improvement of energy plants.
We sequenced the whole genome of Jatropha curcas, the expression profile of genes in different tissues and in different adverse conditions, which, in consequently, can provide a basic research platform for the research on the physiology and biochemistry as well as molecular physiology of Jatropha curcas. The research on the molecular physiology mechanism of photosynthesis, starch synthesis, lipid metabolism and stress resistance by means of metabolism genomics can provide a basis for improving seeds yield and oil content, enhancing the tolerant ability of Jatropha curcas to saline and alkaline, low temperature as well.
