  • Developed techniques to assess the biochemical regulation of plant respiration at the Universities of York, UK, and Illinois, USA.
  • Peer-reviewed manuscripts for New Phytologist, Plant and Soil and Plant and Cell Physiology and copy-edited a special issue of Mammal Review.

Post-Doctoral Researcher, Australian National University - May 2006 to Apr 2007

  • Assessed changes in mitochondrial metabolism that allow plants to cope with life in the cold.
  • Published the findings in Plant, Cell and Environment.

Education

PhD in Plant Biology, University of York - Oct 2001 to Sep 2005

  • Investigated the physiological and biochemical changes underpinning respiratory acclimation to the cold in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana; published the findings in plant journals.
  • Carried out research at Biosphere 2, Arizona, assessing the effects of elevated CO2 concentrations on above- and below-ground carbon fluxes in an experimental poplar forest.
