Prof. Zeng’s Team at South China Botanical Garden has made significant impact on the introduction, breeding, propagation, commercial production, conservation and molecular function in recent years. In particular, the Paphiopedilum breeding has been at the advanced level in the world. 15 species have been developed and approved by variety registration in Guangdong Province. 88 species been registered in Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The number of new species developed is the first in China. In 2021, 4 new species have been approved by variety registration in Guangdong Province, and 16 new species have been registered in RHS. ' Paphiopedilum Yingchun' and ' Paphiopedilum Queen of Zhongke' are selected as the leading varieties of agriculture in Guangdong Province in 2021. The new species 'Paphiopedilum SCBG COP15’ registered in RHS was specifically named for the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, and was displayed in the Fuli Palace Pavilion of the Kunming Institute of Botany during the conference. This species has also won the Gold Medal for Exhibits at the 10th China Flower Expo and the Gold Medal for The Orchid Exhibition in Guangdong Province in 2021. Paphiopedilum Wenfei won the gold medal, and 'Paphiopedilum' Lv Ru Yi' and 'Paphiopedilum SCBG Crown' won the silver at the 10th China Flower Expo medal. At the same time, our research group's "Conservation of Paphiopedilum Germplasm Resources" won the Silver Award, " Paphiopedilum New Variety Research and Development" and " Paphiopedilum In vitro propagation technology" received the Excellence Award.
